CFD Simulation of Solid Suspension for a Liquid–Solid Industrial Stirred Reactor

The present study examines the possibility of using an industrial stirred chemical reactor, originally employed for liquid–liquid mixtures, operating with two-phase liquid–solid suspensions. It is critical when obtaining a high-quality product that solid phase remains suspended in liquid long enough reaction takes place. impeller was designed preparation prescribed composition. aims at finding, numerical simulation analysis, if performance original suitable new different Eulerian multiphase model along renormalization (RNG) k-? turbulence to simulate flow free surface tank. A sliding-mesh approach used rotation commercial CFD code, FLUENT. results obtained underline 25% 40% sedimented on lower part depending initial conditions. does not perform as needed; hence, suspension time be properly completed.
